David Shinn – Recording, Mixing, and Mastering Engineer
David Shinn is co-owner of Radio Waves Studios. When David is not busy recording, mixing, and mastering a variety of audio projects for all media including audiobooks, podcasts, reality television series, film, VR, AR, and 360 film, he is busy building and installing audio studios and recording booths for corporate clients and individual artists.
David is also known as a foley (SFX) artist for live and studio productions. He both builds props and performs.
David’s work has been recognized by the Emmy, the Audies (9 nominations, 2 wins), The Communicator Awards, Earphone Awards, The International Radio Festival, and numerous other awards.
During the pandemic, when many studios were shuttered, David, who had already been experimenting with blended remote and in-studio recording, was able to continue working for his clients, while producing new works. This allowed him to create productions with as few as one and also more than 20 cast members. Among his recent credits that feature remote cast recordings are:
In 2020 David oversaw the interconnection of artists from home and commercial studios around the world to create ensemble performance events for the HEAR Now Festival’s 15,000 virtual attendees; the Audio Engineering Society, and Audio Publishers Association Conference.
Sue Zizza – Director / Casting / Project Management
Sue Zizza is a transmedia storyteller. She is a producer, director, writer, sound designer, and co-owner of Radio Waves Studios, a full-service audio production facility producing sound for all media including audiobooks, podcasts, TV, film and VR. As an award-winning producer and director, Sue has experience developing and completing projects ranging from solo voice to large ensemble casts while staying on budget.
Sue has produced award-winning audio fiction for the web, public radio, and audiobooks for more than 3 decades. Her work has been featured at the 2022 Tribeca Festival as well as honored over the years by The Audies (9 nominations, two wins), The Gabriel’s, The International Festival of New York, The National Federation of Community Broadcaster, and the Communicator Awards. In 2021 she was named The Corwin Award winner for lifetime achievement in producing audio fiction.
Sue’s sound clients have included: Cleo TV, PBS, Audible, Blackstone, McMillan Publishers, and USA Networks -Sci-FiChannel. From 1996 – 2008 she served as the Executive Director of the National Audio Theatre Festivals (NATF) with whom, in 2013, she co-founded the HEAR Now Festival.
When not producing and directing, Sue specializes in and manual SFX (Foley) effects for audio productions, film, television and the stage.
Sue also teaches audio arts and sound production at New York University’s Kanbar Institute for Film and Television at the Tisch School of the Arts.
Richard, Richie, Rich, or Chico (NEVER Dick) Romaniello has been a professional recording engineer and producer since 1982 @ Fox Studio & Mountain Sound Studios. He was the Senior Recording Engineer @ Caedmon Records & HarperAudio from September 1985 through February 2009. During his tenure, Caedmon Records & HarperAudio, received 13 Grammy nominations, 1 Grammy Award, a Peabody Award, & scores of Audie Awards.
Richie joined Penguin Random House Audio in September of 2011, and retired from PRHA in February of 2024.
Richie has recorded, edited, &/or mixed-mastered more than 2000 audiobooks.
Richie also has a parallel career recording music and as Malcolm Addey’s mentee & assistant since 1984 on more than 200 “Live” Jazz, Blues, Rock & Classical music recordings.

Sharon Bardales is a Bronx native with a deep love for sound and how it fosters community and belonging. After spending some years community organizing, Sharon made the switch to audio engineering, to bridge audio and stories together. Sharon was the recording engineer for numerous award winning podcasts such as The 11th, Borderline Salty, The Invisible Seam, Back Issue, Classy, Ghost Story, Unruly and Harlem Is Everywhere in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Alan Hawkins – Production Assistant
Alan Hawkins has always been interested in conversation and storytelling. Now with a focus on podcast production and audio engineering, he combines his past experience in photography and event production as the production assistant at Radio Waves Studios.
